Through The Viewfinder: Mendocino Landscapes

Two of Studio 391's artists, Paul Kozal and Robert B. Taylor, were invited to exhibit at the Grace Hudson Museum's group photography exhibition, Through The Viewfinder: Mendocino Landscapes.

New Photography Exhibition

Flora is a new photography exhibition at Studio 391 featuring the works of Kim Kauffman and Christopher Burkett.

Flora is a side-by-side view of two schools of color photography – digital vs. traditional – both producing stunning photographs.

Using the scanner as camera, Kim Kauffman's photographs explore a cameraless and filmless technique while Christopher Burkett photographs with film cameras and make Ilfochrome prints in a traditional darkroom.

The exhibition opened on Saturday, November 7, 2009 and remains on view through December 14, 2009.

Studio 391 Voted Top 5 Mendocino Art Gallery of 2009

Studio 391 was voted #2 of the top 5 galleries for 2009 in the category Best Mendocino Art Gallery. The contest was sponsored by SFGate/BayList.

BayList is the online destination of The San Francisco Chronicile that profiles local businesses and allows consumers to vote for and recommend their favorites in the categories of lodging, dining, art and wine.

Christopher Burkett - September Print Special

Autumn Reflections is a new print special that is being offered by Christopher Burkett at a special introductory price.

The special introductory price for the 20"x20" prints is $750 and the 30"x30" prints are $1,500 until December 31, 2009. After January 1, 2010 the 20"x20" prints will increase to $1,000 and the 30"x30" prints will increase to $2,000.

Roman Loranc Opening & Book Signing at Studio 391

Studio 391 presented three new exhibitions at its new location in Cypress Village, Gualala on Saturday, August 29.

Studio 391 hosted an artist reception and book signing for photographer Roman Loranc and also debuted his new and never before seen images from his most recent trip to Dubrovnik. Roman signed copies of his latest monograph Fractal Dreams: Photographs from Two Decades for gallery attendees that purchased a book. Wine for the exhibition opening was generously provided by Elizabeth Spencer Wines.

Concurrently, a new painting exhibition California Impressions opened featuring plein air paintings by Charles Waldman, Richard Lindenberg and introducing Paul Ferney. Farmers Market introduced a new series of small-scale bronze works featuring the fruits and vegetables of California by the artists of Bronze Plus (Jim Pollare, Val Brunmeier and Matt Hart).

All three exhibitions remain on view through September 28, 2009.

Three New Exhibitions at Studio 391

Studio 391 hosted a reception for the opening of three new exhibitions at its new location, 39102 Ocean Drive at Cypress Village, Gualala on Saturday, July 25th.


Artists Rolfe Horn and Wendy Schwartz were in attendance. Wine was generously provided by Elizabeth Spencer Wines for the artists' reception.


Shashin: New photographs from Japan by Rolfe Horn; In the Shadows: New paintings from Marin/Sonoma County by Wendy Schwartz and Graphite Sculpture: Graphite objects by Agelio Batle/The Batle Studio will remain on view through August 17, 2009.
